FOOTPRINTS
One night I dreamt that while walking along the beach, many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene there were also footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times only one. I wondered why this was because during the low periods of my life, when I was distressed or disillusioned, there was only one set of footprints. So I asked, "You promised that if I walked you would always walk with me. Why during the most trying periods of my life has there only been one set of footprints? Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The response, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my dear, this is when I carried you.”
